Indonesia, a coastal country with the population of 260 million people, is the world’s second-largest plastic pollution country after China, according to a study published in the journal Science in January. It generates 3.2 million tons of not properly treated plastic waste each year, of which 1.29 million tons are washed out to the ocean.

The Indonesian government is making efforts to reduce plastic use: Requiring shops not to provide plastic bags to customers, teaching it in schools across the country,… to minimize the use of plastic by 70% by 2025.
